Our mission is to provide culturally competent educational and arts-based programs and services that build culturally aware, self-reliant youth leaders and communities. To fulfill this mission, we develop and support educational and arts-based initiatives.

OUR IMPACT

UMOJA.png

Individuals are transformed through our work and programs. These individuals, in turn, transform their communities.

We evaluate students in each class to determine their level of understanding and their progress. We consider 50% or more of our students with the ability to exhibit a Knowledge of Self* to be successful. We count assessment values 3, 4, and 5 as successful.

*an understanding of oneself from a cultural, historical, familial, and communal perspective, creating a measurable self-affirming self-identity
